Chinese food wholesaler EC “YAMAYA”
Issues and Background
Yamaya Yamazaki had been selling shark fin and seasonings to restaurants as a wholesaler specializing in Chinese food ingredients. However, the Covid-19, which hit the restaurant industry, prompted the company to consult with us about creating an EC site that would allow ordinary users to easily prepare shark fin at home.
This time, we utilized “Shopify,” which has highly scalable functions as an EC site and a wide range of design customization.

Although this is a mail-order website for authentic Chinese foodstuffs, we avoided using flashy design elements that would give the site a “Chinese” feel, and instead kept the design simple so that anyone can easily select products.
The “specialties” page was designed to convey Yamaya Yamazaki’s commitment to their products, and the product pages were designed to be simple, yet each page was designed to showcase the products in a way that would suit the purpose of the page.

Photo Shooting Concept
This time, we took photos to be used on the product page. We discussed with the client the size of the shark’s fin and the sizzle of the seasoning, and decided on a composition that would convey the appeal of the product in a simple way.
A word from our staff
The site was created for an unfamiliar purpose: selling shark’s fin as a food ingredient, but we believe we were able to create an ideal EC site through repeated discussions with the customer. Since the e-commerce site had just started, we are still meeting with the client regularly to track user trends and make improvements.
